| Info | LIVE SPARK at Brisbane's Powerhouse is hosting two of Brisbane's best this coming Sunday, April 11th. Montpelier have just returned from their tour supporting the release of their debut EP. After playing to over 450 punters at The Zoo, they set off down the coast stopping in Newcastle, Sydney and Melbourne. A few things people have to say about Montpelier: "There’s something about Montpelier which to me smacks of class. The name of the band, the beautiful packaging of their EP, the unresolved nature of the love story in this film clip and their songwriting. There’s a subtlety there that tells me that they think hard about their music, their web presence and themselves. Big things I reckon, that’s what’s going to happen to Montpelier. " - AIR CHARTS "Trying to get noticed as an indie band in Australia usually goes in hand in hand with more than a few compromises, some minor, some scarring for the rest of your life and not all of them artistic. Montpelier however are a band who defy this unfortunate trend, having not only garnered praise from press and industry alike, but hooked in big name American producer Kevin Augunas (Cold War Kids, Edward Sharpe & The Zeros) to record and produce their latest EP." - Music Feeds Also playing is The Boat People. They released their single "Sporific" back in February and are in the process of touring their second single "Dear Darkly" off their third album. They have also had some very nice things said about them: SYDNEY MORNING HERALD - 4 STARS "This is a second album carefully balanced between the sheer pleasure of pop music and the wit of smart song writing. Chandeliers songs have a casual elegance and a droll eye but they are subordinate to what feels like real emotion, meaty playing and tunes that constantly entertain. The Boat People are the real deal". (Bernard Zuel) MESS AND NOISE "A genuinely great Australian pop album that can comfortably stand alongside acknowledged classics like Woodface, Granddance or 16 Lover's Lane&8230;.superb mature pop music, as good as anything you will hear in this genre this year. International recognition beckons". It's going to be a rad Sunday afternoon being entertained by two exceptional bands! And, best of all, it's FREE!! See you next Sunday! |
