Making of Take A Picture
Campfire Jam
Last night the four of us sat down for the first time in a while and played music the old fashioned way: four blokes sitting in a circle, acoustic guitars, vocals, playing brand new songs for each other for the first time. It was, dare I say, inspirational. It was the sort of thing that reminded us why we love music so much. Before there was TV and internet and mp3s, people used to sit around and play music for each other. Hearing songs last night that were fresh and raw and unfinished and full of honesty and love was a really powerful thing. When you hear songs I think you should be hearing and feeling a little part of the person who wrote them. Songs are like sharing a story, three minutes at a time. Last night was like that. I felt privileged to be sharing music in that way with three guys who are a constant inspiration to me. I don’t want to get all choked up here but the point is it was special. Music is special. And we shouldn’t ever forget it.
Triple J Time
Hello friends
Our first single “The Rafters” just found its way up onto Triple J Unearthed. Now that it’s up there we’d love it if you would be so kind as to click your way over to our Unearthed page http://www.triplejunearthed.com/montpelier and have a listen and rate and review the song.
Without asking too much (we hope), while we’re on the subject of Triple J, if you feel like requesting “The Rafters” on Super Request that would also be amazing. Just head here: http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/requests/make_a_request.htm and request your socks off.
Thank you.

Take A Picture
Next month we’ll be releasing a new single. More about all that soon. Oooo, anticipation.
In the meantime…
Yesterday we shot photos for the new release. I must say, photo shoots can go a couple of ways in terms of enjoyment. In other words, they can either be fun or incredibly awkward and boring and not fun. There’s not usually a middle ground. Yesterday was definitely the most fun we’ve had on a shoot. We had this old camera that we smashed up, and that was fun. And then it happened to be free Slurpee day (7/11 was yesterday), which was also good. We had a whole bunch of awesome people come along and help out. It was great.
Our photographer yesterday, Andrew Tallon, is a really talented young guy who has a very good eye for catching cool moments. Check out some of his other stuff here: http://www.andrewtallon.com.au/ and http://www.flickr.com/photos/andrewtallon/. Thanks Tal!! Also we want to massively thank Hannah, Rob and Jez for coming along and helping out. You guys are cool.
Oh, yeah. And here are the shots.
Valley Fiesta Videos
Valley Fiesta was freaking amazing. We’re so grateful to have been a part of it. There’s something very cool about playing on a stage that’s at the end of a small, closed-off street. CityCare did a great job organising the event. If you’ve got 10 seconds then please visit citycare.org.au and check out what they do and what they’re about. They do some great work and we were honoured to be involved in one of their events.
To everyone in the crowd, you really made our night. You battled the on/off rain with stoic disregard for your comfort. Thanks for being awesome.
Here are a few videos taken by some good friends of ours. Props to Claire and Denis.
